What is a storyboard?
It is a basic sketch of the entire film/scene or sequence.
Why are storyboards important?
Today: they save cost. Nowadays films are bigger and more expensive and so using a storyboard saves time and money. Especially now when we have CGI, it limits the waste.
In General:
- They are a visual aid which simplify your idea.
- They help to plan your idea and be creative.
- They save time.
- They plan the technical elements and how they will approach the filming.
- It is more effective to spend the time in pre-production.
- You can change the order around.
- Visually, everyone is on the same page.
Who are they Important for?
Everyone involved in production.
Why are they important for our thriller?
They are important for our thriller because they will enable us to all visually see what the idea will look like and it means that when we come to filming everyone will be on the same page. This in turn will save time when we come to film the opening sequence because we will already have idea of what we want the shots to look like. It also gives us more freedom because we can change the orders of the scene around if we think that they don't work well in that order.
What's on a storyboard?
- Shot Number
- Location
- Action
- Shot/movement
- Sound
- Lighting
- Transition
- Timing
Well done for explaining not only why storyboard is important but also linking it back to your idea. Your points could be developed, by elaborating upon your bullet points. Overall good post.
